本套視頻完整應該是100集的，但是國內只能找到84集，來自35VCD的70集和14個電視錄像的AVI。所以對畫質不要期望過高！市面上11DVD的版本其實沒必要的，而且這個11DVD的版本的其中2碟還有段落沒有聲音。 9DVD足夠了，放大原本壓縮過的視頻並不能改善畫質的，如果使用業餘級的軟體反而會降低畫質的。
Between the Lions 節目主要的目的就是在教導學齡前兒童「拼讀Phonics」 (國內也稱作自然發音法，即不透過音標，直接由字母讀音)， 以及培養兒童閱讀興趣，並利用地方公共圖書館資源。
這些節目在美國背後的金主，是美國的教育部，他們有一個特別的計劃叫做Ready to Learn ，其主要目的是希望學齡前兒童透過觀看節目的同時，也能夠獲取進入小學前所需的常識與技能，同時提供家長在教養以及親職教育方面的技巧指引。
《我們一家都是獅》(Between the Lions)系列兒童節目，不僅提供學齡前兒童學習資源，也透過全美公共電視體系148 個地方電視台，為社區父母與教師舉辦各種工. 作坊，共同協助學齡前兒童順利就學。
這次給孩子們介紹的是PBS的兒童視頻節目。該節目講述的是居住在圖書館裡的奧爾獅子家族，爸爸西奧、媽媽莉奧、哥哥萊奧和妹妹莉娜每天在圖書館翻看有趣的圖書，孩子們會和它們一起在繽紛的動畫和動聽的歌曲裡，分享精彩有趣的故事。節目以豐富多變的形式，重複突出的教一些英語詞彙。每集裡都有動畫、布偶、真人並配以歌曲和活動變化的英文字卡，讓孩子在熱鬧開心的氣氛下，掌握準確的發音，並找到閱讀的竅門和增加學習的興趣。
這類著名的兒童節目，目的就是要讓孩子們在輕鬆愉快的心情下，不知不覺地跟著節目人物唱讀。在有趣的動畫詞彙組合，節奏性強的歡快的音樂歌舞下，激發孩子們的學習興趣，較之背卡片，效果往往事半功倍。
