WiththelatestreleaseofInfraWorks,wecontinueourcommitmenttotheintegrationofBIMandGIS.InInfraWorks(2019.3),weintroducedportalmanagersupport,enablingconnectionstoon-premisePortalsinadditiontoArcGISOnline.Withthisfeature,customerscanusethedatacontainedintheirin-houseEsridatarepository(Portals).WealsoofferedimageservicesupportfortheAutodeskConnectorforArcGIS,allowinguserstoconnectterrainandimagelayersinadditiontofeaturelayers,withintheirInfraWorksmodels.

OurpartnershipwithESRIhasallowedustoleveragetheimmensequantitiesofGISdatathatwerealreadyavailablebothpubliclyandoninternalstoragewithastreamlinedapproachthatavoidsmanyofthepasttranslationsthatneededtooccur.Asthesetoolscontinuetoevolveweareexcitedwitheachnewreleasetoshowaddedvalueandthisreleaseisnodifferent,addingtheabilitytosavebackediteddatafromInfraWorkstotheESRIdatastores.

InthislatestreleaseofInfraWorks,youarenowabletomakechangestoGISdatathatwasimportedfromArcGISOnlineandEnterprise.WithproperpermissionstoArcGIS,thosechangesmadeinInfraWorkscanbesavedbacktotheArcGISFeatureService.Forexample,youmayhavebroughtsanitarysewermanholeandpipedatafromArcGISintoInfraWorks.WithinyourInfraWorksmodel,youmaywishtochangethelocationofthatmanholeandpipelocationtomeetyourdesignrequirements.Onceyoumakethatchange,yousimplyselectthedatasourcefromArcGISOnlineandselectto‘saveback’tosavethosechangesbacktoArcGIS.NowinArcGISOnline,wesimplyrefreshthewebbrowserandthenewlocationsofthemanholeandpipeareshown.

-ExtendedSchemaTool
InordertomeetBIMrequirements,anaggregatedmodelwithdeepmetadataisoftenrequiredandtheschematoolhelpssimplifytheprocessofmanagingthisdata.ThenewreleaseofInfraWorksallowsuserstoaddnewpropertiesandinformationtotheelementsoftheirproject.Customizedataforobjectsinamodelthroughtheextendedschematransfertool.Thedatacanbeexpandedwithmultiplefieldsandeachelementcanbedocumentedasneeded.Theschematoolcanbeappliedtobuildings,parcels,roadways,utilities,andahostofotherInfraWorkselements.
-CutandFillDisplay
InfraWorksnowallowstheusertocontrolthecutandfilldisplayonroads.Selectingthematerialdisplayinthegradingoption,allowstheusertospecifythecolorormaterialbytheimpact,cutorfill.Clearlyviewimpactedareasandmakedesignrevisionsasneeded.ThisfeaturewillgreatlyhelptoenhanceroadwayandconceptlayoutswithinInfraWorks.
-Spreadsheet-basededits
Itisnowpossibletomakeadjustmentstobridgestructuresusingaconvenientspreadsheettechnique.Thestructureparametersaresavedtoaspreadsheetwheremultipleeditscanbemadetomultipleareasofthestructureatonetime.Thesechangesarethensavedbackintothespreadsheetandthestructuremodelcanthenbeupdated.Thismethodofmakingmultiplechangesacrossisparticularlyefficientforcustomersworkingonlargebridgeprojectswherechangesinmanyareasofthestructuremayberequired.
