DavidJerisonreceivedtheABfromHarvardin1975,andthePh.D.fromPrincetonin1980underthedirectionofEliasStein.FollowinganNSFpostdoctoralfellowshipattheUniversityofChicago,ProfessorJerisonjoinedtheMITmathematicsfacultyin1981.HisresearchisfocussedonPDEsandFourieranalysis.HeservedasChairoftheUndergraduateMathematicsCommittee,1988-91,ChairofthePureMathematicsCommittee,2002-04,andco-ChairoftheGraduateStudentCommittee2007-09.HeiscurrentlyChairofthePureMathematicsCommitteeanddirectsSPUR,themathematicsdepartment'ssummerundergraduateresearchprogramaswellasthemathematicscomponentofRSI(ResearchScienceInstitute)asummerscienceandengineeringresearchprogramforhighschoolstudents.ApriorSloanresearchfellowandPresidentialYoungInvestigator,ProfessorJerisonwaselectedFellowoftheAmericanAcademyofArts&Sciencesin1999.In2004,hewasselectedforaMargaretMacVicarFacultyFellowshipforaten-yearperiod
