David W.Blight是耶魯大學1954級，研究美國歷史，及奴隸制的反抗和廢除的the Gilder Lehrman 中心主任教授.他寫過很多書籍，包括A Slave No More: Two Men Who Escaped to Freedom, Race and Reunion；The Civil War in American Memory （憑這本書他獲得了美國Bancroft, Abraham Lincoln, and Frederick Douglass獎）以及Beyond the Battlefield: Race, Memory, and the American Civil War， 他也跟別人共同編寫了是美國歷史暢銷教科書： A People and a Nation.
