這本第五版重點在光盤上，印刷版反而成了配角。證據如，collocation 的數據，印刷版收錄65,000 筆，光盤上多給了82,000 筆；Synonym 數據，印刷版收錄18,000 筆，光盤多給30,000 筆數據。光看這些，就足夠把印刷版的使用者全部趕到光盤上了。光盤部分，由原來的兩張CD-ROM 變成一張DVD-ROM。實質內容的增加，明顯可以感受得到。 LDOCE5 的 front matter 更直接說明了
以兩片光盤容納辭典內容，除了OED 之外，就是LDOCE4v2。現在這一新版更擴而大之，用起DVD-ROM 來了。如我之前說的，安裝後的數據容量，從1.14GB 擴大到2.31GB，大約相當四張CD-ROM 的容量。
